1 | We begin our 48 hour adventure in Dakar from our hotel which is about 30 minutes from the center of Dakar. The hotel is on Point des Almadies of the Cape Verde peninsula that is literally at the westernmost tip of Africa. Driving toward the center of Dakar we pass the construction of a massive monument which appears to be stopped. The government's purpose is to build something with the meaning/stature of a 'Statue of Liberty', The intended 'end result' has so far been 'kept a secret'. There has been public concern re the cost of the project. |
